Epic is actually a style subgenre so it's not dumb at all 🤓. I adapted that verse from Ut-napishtim's appeal to Gilgamesh (along with the others) based on Stephanie Dalley's translation.
Gilgamesh Tablet X, Dalley 1989:
Mankind's fame is cut down like reeds in a
reed-bed.
A fine young man, a fine girl,
[ ] of Death.
Nobody sees Death,
Nobody sees the face of Death,
Nobody hears the voice of Death.
Savage Death just cuts mankind down.
Sometimes we build a house, sometimes we make a nest,
But then brothers divide it upon inheritance.
Sometimes there is hostility in [the land],
But then the river rises and brings flood-water.
Dragonflies drift on the river,
Their faces look upon the face of the Sun,
(But then) suddenly there is nothing.
The sleeping (?) and the dead are just like each other,
Death's picture cannot be drawn.
The primitive man (is as any) young man (?).
When they blessed me,
The Anunnaki, the great gods, assembled;
Mammitum who creates fate decreed destinies with them.
Thanks. I try to stick with free tools as much as possible but I may have to invest in CapCut pro for upcoming projects. The big trick with the music is balancing the meter and hitting the "Create" button about a hundred times (adjusting as you go).
Oh no that's all Suno 😂. I probably spun the wheel a dozen times on that rework and I already had the song working on the v4 model. The other secret to genAI is patience and accepting that it will almost never do exactly what you want. I have another Arabesk version of this that I liked the music for better but the chorus and second verse didn't work out. If it's close enough I'll open it in studio or replace sections. But I really want to try a from scratch composition in Suno Studio, so I'm working on a more personal song that I plan to use my own vocals for and mix with w generated band. Then mix clips of myself singing it in CapCut and try some other tricks. It's going to be a disaster because I can't sing and I don't have the right recording equipment but fuck it, it's in my head and won't let go. Still working through the lyrics but they're painful so I have to take breaks.
Wow!!! 3:47-4:21 epic, I know it’s a dumb word but I can’t think of the word right now that accurately describes this. I’d play this on repeat.

They appointed death and life.
They did not mark out days for death,
But they did so for life.'
